We're encouraging North Queensland businesses to share information about being back to business, so we can host this information on our website and social media channels for Townsville North Queensland.
A message from Townsville Enterprise CEO, Claudia Brumme-Smith
Firstly, well done to our Townsville North Queensland community who prepared well, and have weathered the storm threat posed by ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily well. North Queenslanders are a resilient bunch, and I'm proud to see the mateship synonymous with this region shining through yet again.
Our focus is now shifting swiftly to getting our North Queensland business community, and our tourism industry, back to business soon as possible - acknowledging that safety always comes first.
With so many small businesses in our region, these owner/operator businesses have already felt the financial pinch of this weather event, and for many this impact started long before the ex-TC even crossed the coast. Having come only five weeks after ex-TC Jasper, the North Queensland region is recovering not only from the wild weather itself, but also from the reputation damage of coverage in our southern tourism markets.
We acknowledge that with thousands still without power, and whilst our industry is not entirely ready to welcome visitor just yet, we have already turned our minds to recovery messaging. In the coming days, as power is restored - our message is clear - North Queensland is OPEN for business. To help us share this message outside of the region, we need you.
Simply, complete the short survey below and include information about:
Your information will be hosted on townsvillenorthqueensland.com.au on a dedicated landing page which will be shared with guests and consumers from within and outside our region.
In an additional bid to show the world we are back to business, we want to share the latest images from across North Queensland. As the saying goes, a picture tells a thousand words, and we're calling on North Queenslanders to share your latest snaps from across the region.
You can do this two ways:
