Townsville North Queensland will host some of the country’s leaders in renewable energy projects this week, with the return of the Townsville Enterprise Secure the Future: Green Energy Forum.
From global energy companies, to leading Australian hydrogen projects happening right now in Townsville North Queensland, over 170 delegates will learn about green energy projects that are fuelling the future of Australia, and the path ahead to unlock the region’s energy potential.
Townsville Enterprise CEO Claudia Brumme-Smith said the Forum brings together industry, research and governance to share thoughts and visions on the evolution of the green energy industry in North Queensland.
“The Green Energy Forum will help us shape and develop a cooperative approach to harness the opportunities ahead of us here in North Queensland – home of the best solar and wind resources in the country," Ms Brumme-Smith said.
"As global supply chains become increasingly vulnerable to geopolitical shifts, Australia has become an appealing investment destination, and our region is now known nationally and internationally as the place for renewable investments, a growing reputation for having the right assets to be a world leading green energy provider."
"Our reputation as an energy powerhouse is more than words, with over $19.7 billion worth of renewable projects on the books, representing over 47% of the total North Queensland project pipeline value expected until 2030, and this event will showcase these project wins for the North."
"The historic project pipeline grew exponentially since the catalytic announcement of CopperString in 2023, and this project remains the single most important investment in this region to secure affordable power for business and for residents; giving certainty to our refineries, and mines and keeping North Queenslanders employed for generations to come.”
“Delivering CopperString on time in 2029 between Mount Isa and Townsville remains the critically most important thing for the North, and this Forum will prove once again how much hinges on this project moving forward as planned."
Speakers joining the conversation include Australian Hydrogen Council CEO Dr Fiona Smith, Queensland Renewable Energy Council CEO Katie-Anne Mulder, and project leaders from a number of real-world investments taking place across the North and Northwest Queensland – see full list here.
The event program includes a Welcome Function, full-day Forum event and site tours across Townsville North Queensland, visiting project sites, and training facilities.
