Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct (LEIP)

Lansdown will be one of the first eco-industrial precincts for advanced manufacturing, processing, technology and emerging industries. Proponents that have already progressed onsite operations include Queensland Pacific Metals, Edify Energy, Drive It NQ, RTE Energy, Solquartz, Origin Energy, North Queensland Gas Pipeline. The Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct has been declared a “prescribed project”, paving the way for a major green manufacturing hub and a new era of growth for North Queensland.
The LEIP is supported by:
Road and rail connections (national highway network, major rail links).
- Easy access to the Port of Townsville and Townsville Airport for interstate shipping and international export.
- A broad and strong local economy, consistent population growth, and skilled and specialist labour.
- Access to world-class tertiary education and research facilities to advance knowledge and skills, including the only tertiary medical facility in Northern Australia.
- Tertiary hospital and health services.
- A broad range of public and private schooling options.
Townsville State Development Area
The Townsville State Development Area (TSDA) is 4,915 hectares of defined land dedicated for industrial development. It is located about six kilometres south-east of the Townsville CBD and two kilometres south of the Port of Townsville. It is situated at the junction of the national road network (Bruce and Flinders Highway) with direct connections to major rail networks and the Port of Townsville.
Cleveland Bay Industrial Park
The Cleveland Bay Industrial Park (CBIP) master-planned industrial estate, will provide 125 hectares of fully serviced freehold industrial lots for development either side of the Townsville Port Access Road in the Townsville SDA. Suitable industrial uses will include medium-impact industry such as freight terminals, transport depots, research and technology industries, warehouses and infrastructure facilities and the location will allow for 24/7 operations.
The CBIP has direct access to the Townsville Port Access Road, connecting to the Port of Townsville, the Bruce and Flinders Highways and planned infrastructure includes a signalised intersection to cater for Type 2 road train access to all industrial lots.
This platform has been produced as a joint vision between Townsville City Council and the city's key industry leaders.
