Advocacy Alert: Queensland's New State Government
Townsville Enterprise welcomes Queensland’s new State Government, as LNP Leader David Crisafulli is set to be sworn in as the State’s 41st Premier.
We extend our congratulations to Premier David Crisafulli on his election victory and acknowledge the newly elected local MPs: Member for Townsville, Adam Baillie; Member for Mundingburra, Janelle Poole; and Member for Thuringowa, Natalie Marr.
We also acknowledge and congratulate Member for Hinchinbrook, Nick Dametto; Member for Burdekin, Dale Last; and Member for Traeger, Robbie Katter, for retaining their seats.
Townsville Enterprise has been actively working with all sides of politics in the lead up to this election and we look forward to building upon our already close relationship with the newly formed Government to secure the future of Townsville North Queensland.
Looking Ahead
We await the announcement of the new cabinet and parliamentary sitting dates, where we will travel to Brisbane to meet with the new Ministry, Shadow Cabinet, and minor parties.
Our focus remains clear: addressing North Queensland’s most pressing issues, from housing, workforce attraction and livability, infrastructure and policy reforms, ensuring that these projects are fully funded and delivered.
During the election campaign we saw several commitments from the LNP government including full commitments towards CopperString and Palm Island Rent-to-Buy Housing Scheme and partial commitments towards Palm Island Tourism Masterplan and TropiQ - Townsville's Tropical Intelligence and Health Precinct, and we look forward to seeing these commitments come to fruition.
The LNP Government has released its 100-day plan and from this we would call on:
- North Queensland representation on the committee for delivering the 20-year tourism plan and the tourism cabinet subcommittee.
- Outcomes for North Queensland from the Housing Ministerial Taskforce.
- Townsville North Queensland requires a $65M investment in trunk infrastructure to unlock 5650 new houses and $50M to develop inner city Build to Rent Apartments.
- Townsville North Queensland representation on the Resources Cabinet Subcommittee.
As we have always advocated, North Queensland deserves nothing short of full delivery. Townsville Enterprise is prepared to hit the ground running with the newly elected government, ensuring our region receives its fair share.
Townsville Enterprise will continue to be a strong voice for the region, holding all political parties accountable and partnering with the government of the day to drive investment and policy decisions to support the delivery of our $30B+ project pipeline.
