The role of events in Townsville

A destination that’s agile, accessible, and home to the North’s largest population. Townsville North Queensland is setting the standards with by creating a nationally significant events calendar that reflects and embraces the local and regional community.

Events play an important role in growing Townsville’s tourism industry, bringing the community together, driving job creation, and enhancing livability. From sports and endurance events to arts and culture festivals, food and drink celebrations, and music events, each event tells Townsville’s story and showcases our city on a larger stage.

Townsville Enterprise works closely with government bodies, industry leaders, and local stakeholders to attract, develop, and promote a dynamic Events Calendar. This strategic approach not only strengthens our economy but also enhances social and cultural experiences, reinforcing Townsville’s reputation as a premier destination.

In January 2025, Townsville Enterprise entered a new partnership with the Townsville City Council to enhance our city's reputation as the major events capital of northern Australia. This collaboration includes establishing an events advisory panel comprising of industry experts to streamline and expedite our efforts in attracting and creating major events that showcase our region and deliver long-term economic benefits.
